Digital Mycenae
The launch of the digital Mycenae Archive celebrates the centenary of British excavations at the renowned Bronze Age site. Drawing on the core collection in the Archive of the Faculty of Classics at the University of Cambridge and two collections from the Archive of the British School at Athens (BSA): the Mycenae Excavation Records and part of its BSA-Society for the Promotion of Hellenic Studies (SPHS) Image Collection. The Mycenae Archive consists of notebooks, drawings, plans and photographs of the archaeological endeavours of the team of the British School at Athens at Mycenae in 1920-1923, 1939 and 1950-1957 under the directorship of Alan John Bayard Wace (1879-1957), BSA Director (1914-23). All these documents have been digitised and reunited to be available as a resource for exploring Mycenae in the Cambridge Digital Library.
The digitisation of this material was funded by the Faculty of Classics, University of Cambridge, in celebration of the centenary of the inception of Alan Wace’s work at Mycenae in 1920.
