My research interest is prehistoric Anatolian archaeology. I am interested in the intercultural relations of Anatolia and the Eastern Mediterranean in the Late Bronze and Iron Ages. I am particularly interested in pottery, so my Master’s thesis focuses on the Iron Age Cypro-Cilician painted pottery.
Project
I am based at Bogazici University and am currently working on my MA thesis. I am studying the Iron Age Cypro-Cilician painted pottery from Tarsus-Gözlükule. The site is located in the southern part of Turkey and had interregional connections with Cyprus and the Levant. In the Fitch Laboratory, I will work on the petrographic analysis of ceramic thin sections from Tarsus-Gözlükule. Samples were selected from both the settlement and the kiln areas to be able to compare the clays of local and imported pottery. Cypro-Cilician pottery is part of a large koine in the Eastern Mediterranean. My project aims to understand the development of the Cypro-Cilician pottery in Tarsus-Gözlükule and to investigate its interregional and regional relations in the Eastern Mediterranean.
