Welcome Nathan
The BSA is delighted to welcome Nathan Meyer as its new IT Officer. Here, in his own words, is a summary of his experience:
“I have formal education and work experience both as an archaeologist and information technology professional. In the 1980s and 1990s I was active on excavation and survey projects in Italy, Bulgaria and Cyprus. Since 2017, I have been a staff member on the Cambridge University Keros-Naxos Seaways Project. I have master’s degrees from Bryn Mawr College (Ancient Art and Archaeology) as well as University of California at Berkeley (Anthropology, Information Science). My primary areas of academic interest are field methodologies (particularly archaeological field survey), ceramic analysis, and the Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age in the Aegean and East Mediterranean. I have a particular interest in the intersection between archaeology and data. As an IT professional, I have three decades of experience across a breadth of disciplines including systems management, application development, data/systems architecture, and project management. I also have had a career as an independent consultant, focusing on strategic planning.”
We all wish Nathan well in his new role and look forward to working with him – “Καλή αρχή!”
