Ilenia Cipollari – Arts Bursary 2024-25
The British School at Athens is delighted to announce that the 2024-25 BSA Arts Bursary in partnership with UAL has been awarded to Ilenia Cipollari, PhD Candidate at Wimbledon College of Arts.
During the residency, Ilenia will be working on a multimedia installation on the life and domestic dimension of Emily Penrose while she was living at the BSA at the end of the 19th century, and also on her Mediterranean travels. She will write a performative libretto (booklet) based on her diaries which she will perform and donate to the BSA archives.
Ilenia Cipollari is an actor and singer working across different medias such as performance art, film, and theatre. She has performed internationally, most notably at Bold Tendencies, at LCMF London Contemporary Music Festival, at Leuven Artifact Festival, at the International Festival of Chamber music in San Paulo, at Yale University on Yale Repertory Theater’s NO BOUNDARIES performance series, at Tbilisi International Theater Festival, at Battersea Arts Center, at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, at Tramway Arts Centre and at several editions of BRAVE festival, among others. Currently (2023-2027) undertaking a PhD at University of the Arts London: Camberwell, Chelsea, Wimbledon Colleges on care in performing arts practices and live music. Research interests include gig theatre, post-dramatic theatre, trauma-informed psychoanalysis, feminist anthropology, and feminist relational politics.
