‘Translation and Inclusion vs Exclusion’
A virtual panel discussion co-organised by the British School at Athens and the Centre for Hellenic Studies, King’s College London, and Aiora Press.
This session will address the theme of ‘translation and inclusion versus exclusion’. Following on from previous events on the topic of translation with Aiora Press, we hope in this panel to explore its intersection with the dynamics of inclusion versus exclusion, the existence or creation of minorities, the advocacy for a more pluralistic society via fiction, children’s literature, poetry, and graphic novels, which, in their own way, perform acts of ‘translation’ between cultures, languages or historical periods.
Chair: Prof. Gonda Van Steen (Centre for Hellenic Studies, King’s College London)
Participants: Ruth Padel (Author and Poet), Dr Therese Sellers (Author, Poet and Translator), and Soloup (Graphic Artist)
This is the second of two panel discussions on the same theme, both taking place via Zoom over two consecutive Mondays on 24 January and 31 January 2022.
