Volunteer and work experience placements
As part of our commitment to training and outreach, the British School at Athens is pleased to offer work experience and volunteer placements to university level students and above. We are happy to accept volunteer applications from individuals based locally, or from those abroad who have secured funding through an external source (e.g. a university scholarship, Erasmus+, Turing Scheme and ATLAS). From time to time small bursaries may be available to support travel for volunteer placements.
Opportunities often open at Athens in the Administration Department, Archive, Fitch Laboratory, Library and Museum, at the BSA’s Knossos Research Centre, and on a limited number of off-site digital placements, as well as in research projects of our academic staff. Applications are reviewed twice a year (January and May), and applicants’ skills are assessed based on available projects in order to find a suitable placement.
Applicants can submit their email here and receive a link to an online application where they can state which department they are seeking an internship in as well as indicate a referee to write on their behalf.
